AML-Loading for NU3/Yarayara 2

One of the Certified Solution Providers of Object Automation is Hint. Hint was established in 1992 en has done numerous engineering projects. Thanks to these projects Hint has become very experienced in the application of the software development Hint framework. For example, for NU3 Hint developed a system for Analyser Management, Metering & Loading Control (AML), for which Hint provides the essential functionality.

Nu3 is a Fertilizer production plant which produces several kinds of manures. The liquid manures are mostly delivered to gardeners by regular
transportcompanies. Until the Summer of 2003 the filling of trucks was done manually by operators. This led to long waiting times for truck drivers. Due to a sudden increase of sales of 60 percent, NU3 had to improve this situation. There are several reasons for the automation of the filling procedure and for having truck drivers start these procedures themselves:

  1. Sales depend on the weather, therefore it is impossible to correctly schedule the required amount of operators.
  2. Thanks to the increase of capacity, it is now possible to fill trucks on 6 platforms, with only one operator to monitor the processes.
  3. The reduction of administrative tasks: in stead of typing in the actuals manually, the loaded products can now be uploaded into SAP by uploading a file once a day.
  4. The exclusion of fraud. Nu3 has the obligation to provide carriage documents. These are now developed automatically.

The software solution AML Loading has a central place in this project. AML Loading controls the process and transports data to databases and to the user interface. After NU3 had done the required preparation, Hint started writing the software. They were able to deliver the completed software within 6 weeks, which is an extremely short period. This could be realized thanks to the choice for the development the AML suite. AML is object oriented and has strong reuse capabilities. This leads to a significant decrease of time needed to finish projects. Users have remote access and support can be done from a distant location.
